Playing in Jamestown and Columbia

My birthday was Friday, and I did something that I don't think I have ever done - took the day off for my Birthday, Tom and I went over to Jamestown and Columbia State Park. We hit almost every Antique store in Jamestown (there are a lot) and got a few things, but mostly we just said, "We have that at home, should be sell it?" did not realize how much we had that was worth anything. Got to Columbia at about 3 pm, things close up at 4. Had time to check out the store that sells fabric and clothing modeled after the dress of the 1850's. When I got to go to Williamsberg I was fascinated with the girls dresses that were worn during that time, a dress would last a child for years due to the way it was sewn, multiple "pleats" that were let out for length, and tied in the back and a sash was worn to make the garment more fitted - they were super cute, soft, and too expensive for me. Someday I would like to try to make one (or more for the granddaughters). I purchased a straw hat to decorate and wear to Pioneer day sometime. We had a great day, thanks Tom for being such a good sport!XXOO!!
