MMM

Missin My Mom

Can't believe it has been almost 8 years since Mom passed away. Every year gets a little easier, but some days I sure wish I could just talk to her on the phone, or ask her how to cook something, or just laugh with her. She was one funny lady, and fun to be around. You would be real proud of all your Grand kids MeaMaw, and Miss Shelby too.

 Mom and Dad's 40th Anniversary

Mom and Dad and Garrett at Holly Wass's wedding, she had lost weight due to the cancer but we did not know it yet.

Me and Mom a few months before she went home to Heavenly Father, she was the best patient I every had.

She had to have the tree outside decorated for Christmas, I did not do such a good job.
Mom died on her 62nd birthday, too young, we miss you. XXOO

What I learned when the power is out

This week we were without electricity for a couple of days, and here are some of the things I learned (or remembered) for emergencies. Yes, the power being out is an emergency!

1. During bad storms in our area, fill the bathtub up with cold water - save it for; flushing, bathing, cooking, drinking. Store water wherever you can, change it every 6 months.
2. If you get some snow, bag some up and stick it in your fridge, and remember to open fridge and freezer as little as possible.
3. Have a better source of light than candles, they just don't cut it. I like old oil lamps, when my hubby is home we use the old Coleman camp lanterns. (they scare me)
4. Have a source of heat that is not electric or need electricity to run - even if you heat with a gas heating system it will not work without electricity (same with newer ovens).
5. Have a way to cook; camp stove or wood stove top, or gas stove - you may have to start with a lighter or matches so make sure you have them also.
6. Enjoy the quiet of the house without all those motors, fans and beeps going on, write a letter.
7. Newer phones do not work, have a emergency plug in phone if you still have a land line.

Wish I had one of these!!!

Best advice, buy a genarator before they sell out at the stores!!!

RS Birthday

Mariposa Branch Relief Society, such a great group pf ladies, a lot of them made it to the RS Birthday Celebration in Merced on the 17th. I wont share all the pictures - you'll have to check out the Mariposa RS blog (I am sure a post will be upcoming soon)
Sometimes us ladies need to be celebrated as women, and that is what I feel the RS does. Not often is this life to find a group of people to "lift you up" but that is what RS sisters to for each other all the time.
LOVE YA SISTERS!

First things first, had to take a snack for the road
took some cookie that my nephew Garrett made, have ground up dates in the middle, you are such a good cook Gar - go to culinary school!!
When we go in line at Tulare, we ran into the family (so we just had to go visit, I mean cut in line)
Tom, Bodie, Uncle Rodney, and Daren
 Rodney, Darin, and Mike
Took a ride, saw the sights first, horse drawn buggy....
 (bad self portrait picture, sorry)
Watched some cookin' in the Women's pavilion- Tom was checking out some irrigation (or something equally exciting)
We got lots of items from Blue Diamond Almond, things on SALE for the show, love those almond crackers
Went to Elder Hurd's going away meeting on the way home, is done with his mission and got to meet his family who took him back to Utah on Wednesday. (you better come visit soon!)
Most of all had a good time getting out with my sweetie (Tommy), we have one day off together a week, and have lots of stuff to do on that day. Tom loves to go to the Ag show every year, what he chooses to do for his birthday....it is a guy thing, I just try to be a good sport. :)

Food Table Runner

Spent yesterday at Aunt Clara's house, had a great visit with her and her daughter Carole. Carole has a new toy that cuts fabric, so she helped me plan a table runner. Small project to start to learn how to use the cutter. I have been collecting food fabric for a while, so I was excited to do this project.
I was nice to "bounce" ideas about sewing off each other and learn from each other.

I have enough cut out to do 3or4 table runners, but Carole told me I can only make 2 and then move onto another project. Knowing me I feel like I have to use every piece up and will make the same quilt until all the stuff is used up! But I have an idea how to use all the pieces up, I'll show her!
Had a fun day, thanks so much Aunt Clara and Carole!!!
