MMM

Missin My Mom

Can't believe it has been almost 8 years since Mom passed away. Every year gets a little easier, but some days I sure wish I could just talk to her on the phone, or ask her how to cook something, or just laugh with her. She was one funny lady, and fun to be around. You would be real proud of all your Grand kids MeaMaw, and Miss Shelby too.

 Mom and Dad's 40th Anniversary

Mom and Dad and Garrett at Holly Wass's wedding, she had lost weight due to the cancer but we did not know it yet.

Me and Mom a few months before she went home to Heavenly Father, she was the best patient I every had.

She had to have the tree outside decorated for Christmas, I did not do such a good job.
Mom died on her 62nd birthday, too young, we miss you. XXOO

What I learned when the power is out

This week we were without electricity for a couple of days, and here are some of the things I learned (or remembered) for emergencies. Yes, the power being out is an emergency!

1. During bad storms in our area, fill the bathtub up with cold water - save it for; flushing, bathing, cooking, drinking. Store water wherever you can, change it every 6 months.
2. If you get some snow, bag some up and stick it in your fridge, and remember to open fridge and freezer as little as possible.
3. Have a better source of light than candles, they just don't cut it. I like old oil lamps, when my hubby is home we use the old Coleman camp lanterns. (they scare me)
4. Have a source of heat that is not electric or need electricity to run - even if you heat with a gas heating system it will not work without electricity (same with newer ovens).
5. Have a way to cook; camp stove or wood stove top, or gas stove - you may have to start with a lighter or matches so make sure you have them also.
6. Enjoy the quiet of the house without all those motors, fans and beeps going on, write a letter.
7. Newer phones do not work, have a emergency plug in phone if you still have a land line.

Wish I had one of these!!!

Best advice, buy a genarator before they sell out at the stores!!!

RS Birthday

Mariposa Branch Relief Society, such a great group pf ladies, a lot of them made it to the RS Birthday Celebration in Merced on the 17th. I wont share all the pictures - you'll have to check out the Mariposa RS blog (I am sure a post will be upcoming soon)
Sometimes us ladies need to be celebrated as women, and that is what I feel the RS does. Not often is this life to find a group of people to "lift you up" but that is what RS sisters to for each other all the time.
LOVE YA SISTERS!
