Christmas decorating 2010

Well the tree got decorated (Shelby and I), I did put the angel on top - but she fell off, going to wait for Tom to redo (too high)

What happened to Thanksgiving?

Have you tried to buy a Thanksgiving tablecloth in November?
There is nothing available, all of the shelf space at the stores are taken up with Christmas decorations and gifts to buy.
When did we start shopping for Christmas on Thanksgiving day? Why are the stores open at 3 and 4 AM this morning?

If you are shopping today ask yourself these questions:
How much money am I really SAVING?
Do I have to charge to get these great SAVINGS?
Does this make me happy?
Does this make me feel more anxious about the holidays?
If I gave a homemade gift would I be happier?
Does the person getting this gift need it??

I love Thanksgiving, just a wonderful meal with friends and family where we do not have to exchange any gifts or spend a lot of money.
So why are we skipping that wonderful day in our lives to hurry to start the next holiday?
I vow this year to put family before things, small homemade gifts only - (or on line shopping if there is really something needed or wanted)

Let's keep it simple, and be thankful.

Thanksgiving 2010

We have much to be thankful for, enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving with Cathy and Shelby, turkey and all the trimmings. We are very thankful for our health, our family, jobs, food on the table. Hope you all had a great thanksgiving too.

hexagon albatros

Have you ever started a project and then it got set to the sidelines, you picked it up in a year or two, this repeats many years. Well this is a all hand stitched hexagon that I started 8 years ago. I give up making it a full side quilt, it is going to be a baby quilt! Now to just quilt it. OK - Wayne, Brad, Ryan, Cathy, and Dee - the next one to have a baby gets it. So lets get busy getting married, and having a grand baby!!! :) lol

What to decorate the tree with this year?

Last year my dear friend Hilary decorated my our Christmas tree, she did a great job, took what I had brought her own ribbon and was so creative. So this year I have some ideas, but realized that I only have about 3 weekends before the kids start coming in for Christmas, so hopefully will  get it up this coming week. My Aunt Clara gave me a bag of empty thread spools - wish I could find some free old wooden ones. Would love to do a Quilt/sewing tree.
So look forward to upcoming posts with pictures of this years tree.
